Important Update:

Temporary closure of our waiting list for one to one sessions only.

We are open for  Women’s Peer Support Groups & EMDR.

Due to unprecedented demand and in order to prioritise the quality of care for our current clients in session or on our waiting list, SAND has temporarily closed our referrals for both self and supported referrals.

We are currently supporting the highest number of clients since we opened and must ensure our existing team can continue to provide safe, consistent and trauma-informed care. This is the first time we have taken this step since SAND opened in 2017 and it reflects the exceptional pressure on local specialist services.

  • This closure will be reviewed in July and then Autumn 2025.
  • Funded referral routes such as Brave Space, VCU, RASAF and DDAA remain open and unaffected.
  • All current funding received for free access counselling (e.g. RASAF) will be used to support clients already on our waiting list.
  • If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please contact the 24/7 National Rape Crisis Helpline on 0808 500 2222, or a local safeguarding or emergency support service.

Referrals for EMDR and WPSG are still accepted, please continue with the referral below.

Anyone can make a secure online referral to SAND you can do this for yourself, or support someone to do this. We confidentially capture your information* so you’ll only need to give your details once, to then speak to our counselling lead to confirm your details and welcome you into SAND.

You can also do this process with a support worker or carer.
